Client Connectivity means allowing access to the users in an organization to connect with Microsoft Office 365 with the sign-in information and login. We require to check the configuration settings to enable client connectivity. Microsoft data centers are located across the globe and they work in such a way to enable the client connectivity to the nearest server so that the Data processing from the endpoint to the machine is working perfectly fine.
Proxy Configuration is sometimes required when we need to whitelist Office 365 URL and IP Addresses. Outbound ports are also needed to be enabled on Firewall for office 365. Ports are an important configuration in Office 365, some ports for sending/receiving emails such as IMAP and SMTP are required to be enabled on the firewall to allow good network connectivity.
Administrative Roles On Office 365
Global Admin is a user who can access all administrative features in the Office 365 suite of services in our plan, including Skype for Business. By default, the person who signs up for the plan in Office 365 is a global admin.
Global administrators are responsible for role assignment of Office 365 Administrative roles to users in the organization. We can have multiple global admins in our organization. I would recommend that only a few people in a company have this role. It reduces the risk to our business
Billing Admins can make purchases, manages subscriptions, manages support tickets, and monitors service health of entire Office 365 Environment.
Service Admin is assigned to opens support requests with Microsoft and views the service dashboard and message center. They generally have “view only” permissions except for opening support tickets and reading them and responding to them.
Service Admins are the people who are assigned to the Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Skype for Business admin roles should also be assigned to the Service admin role. They can also see important information in the Office 365 admin center, such as the health of the service, and change and release notifications in Office 365.
User Management Admins are assigned tasks for Resets passwords, monitors service health, adds and deletes user accounts, and manages service requests. The user management admin can’t delete a global admin, create other admin roles, or reset passwords for global, billing, Exchange, SharePoint, Compliance, and Skype for Business administrators.
Password Admin is assigned to resets passwords, manages service requests, and monitors service health in an organization. Password administrator is limited to resetting passwords for users.
Groups in Office 365
Office 365 group: When we create a Security Group in the past, for our file shares or even in SharePoint, they would be stored in what we call Active Directory.
Today, we have Office 365 Groups. When a group is created, it’s stored in the same place we’re used to: our tenant’s Active Directory, also referred to as Azure Active Directory or AAD. These groups are used to provide a single set of permissions across Office 365 apps including Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, Skype for Business.
Mail-enabled security group: If we create mail-enabled the security group, we can send e-mail to all members of that group. For example, if we create a security group that gives members access to the computers in a specific server lab, we may want to send mail to that group to notify them of a power outage in the lab.
Recipient Types in Office 365
Mailboxes- Licensed mailboxes are designed for personal mail, devices, and programs and require a login. Each person in our organization who may require an email account will have an Office 365 mailbox, either hosted on the desktop version of Outlook or the Outlook Web Application.
Each person can also have one or more aliases for each domain verified e.g., [email protected], [email protected] An email address is a default user email address. All mail sent to any of the alias addresses will be forwarded to the user’s inbox.
Distribution Groups- Mail sent through distribution groups will be delivered as an individual mail item to each destination. All group members will receive an email in their mailbox and reply from their email address. By default, group messages “reply to all” members of the group. Like mailboxes, groups can also have aliases.
Equipment Mailbox is Also known as a room mailbox, these mailboxes are used for reserving and coordinating rooms and equipment. When users elect to add a resource to a meeting appointment via their calendar, a reservation is placed on the resource for that period. When a user creates a calendar event they can check a resource availability.
Mail Contacts are free and may contain pieces of information about people or companies that do exist outside our Exchange organization. They can appear in our organization’s shared address book and other address lists and can be added as members to distribution lists. Each contact has an external email address, and all email messages sent to contact are automatically forwarded to that address.
